7) Fun Math for Little Ones
Using Uno cards play "go fish" and have them pair up numbers. When they get a pair they have to say the sum of it. For example: What's 1+1? This way they learn their addition of pairs and they get to play a fun game.

6) What do you do with all the art work?
I keep all the paper art work in a box and keep it for wrapping paper. Its not only personal but enviornmentally friendly, as well.

5) Another great idea for all the old art.
Have you ever been on your way to a party and put a piece of paper in front of your kids and rushed them into making a "personal" card ? Well my son, who is 7, came up with a great idea; he saves his special art work, coloring sheets ect. in a binder and when its someone's birthday he goes through the binder and picks out something special. The card is already made, he just has to put names on it. It works for me too. If i need a birthday card I ask him to pick me out something and then I write on it, making sure to give credit to the artist, of course.

4) Spelling Basketball
Use a round laundry basket and a beach ball. Children get asked to spell a word. If they get it right, they get a point for their team. They also get to try for a basket. They come up to the front of the room and choose what type of shot they want. A 1,2 or 3 pointer. Masking tape marks on the floor show where each point shot is. They shoot and get the amount of points they went for if they make it. They only get to shoot if they spell the words right.

3) Wheel of Words
Take a poster board and attach some paper clips evenly spaced apart. Use index cards to write the alphabet letters on them. Place them on the posterboard (colorfully decorated of course) and make sure they're face down. Children get to pick a letter and if it's in the word, they get to try to guess the word. If they're right, they have to spell it. If that's correct, then they get to come up and be the next Vanna White or Pat Sajak (they get to turn the letters around for the next word!!) No money involved and no wheel...it's a low budget show!

2) Spelling Noodles
Go to the grocery store and in the pasta aisle, find a package of ABC noodles. Print out the words onto a piece of paper and have the children glue down the pasta letters on top of the words. Tactile for the kids who need it plus great review for everyone.

1) Spelling Go Fish
Print out the words on a strip of construction paper. Then print the letters on pieces of construction paper. Make sure you have enough letters for all the words. Put all the letter pieces (tiles) into a pond in the middle of the desk, table, etc. Children pick a word to play. One after the other they go fish in the pond for a letter tile. If it's in their word, they place it on top in the right spot. If not they put it back into the pond. Play continues until some one fills their word. Then trade cards and play again!
